Astrid Vik Stronen is a wildlife biologist and currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biology at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her research field mainly includes applied conservation genetics and ecology and she is interested in how to protect wild species in the face of modern evolution and rapid environmental change resulting from human activities. Recently, she studies genetic analyses of endangered Nordic dog and cattle breeds as well as wild animals like wolves, bison, bears, monk seals, golden jackals, and coyotes.
