EEBST 2023 WORKSHOP:

 Introduction to Mathematical and Computational Modelling in Evolutionary Biology

A two-day EEBST workshop titled “Introduction to Mathematical and Computational Modelling in Evolutionary Biology” was successfully conducted at Istanbul University on July 20-21, 2023. A total of 24 students and postdocs from Middle East Technical University, Boğaziçi University, Hacettepe University, Koç University, and Istanbul University attended the workshop. The theoretical lectures, delivered by Dr. Murat Tugrul, covered an overview of modelling frameworks in evolutionary biology, mutation-selection-drift dynamics in population genetics, fitness landscapes and models, as well as stochastic modelling in ageing and demography. During the afternoon sessions, participants also engaged in hands-on practice, coding simulations of one-dimensional random walks and allele frequency evolution in populations.
