An expert in food ecology and fish eco-morphology. In recent years, she has dealt with the involvement of interested parties (stakeholders), mainly fishers, in participatory processes to develop adaptive management in fisheries. Moreover, she has been collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders and citizen scientists on issues related to alien species in the Mediterranean. She has served as the National Contact Scientist for Greece in the ESENIAS network (East and South European Network of Invasive Alien Species) since 2018; she is a member of the experts group responsible for the development and management of ELNAIS (Ellenic Network on Aquatic Invasive Species) of HCMR, and an official representative of HCMR in the Scientific Advisory Committee on Invasive Alien Species, of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. 

Her overall contribution to science so far has resulted in the publication of 77 peer-reviewed journal papers, contribution in the translation from English to Greek of four scientific books, co-authoring one book and three book chapters, four teaching notes, and +120 papers in periodicals, conference proceedings, technical reports. In addition, she has supervised/co-supervised Bachelor’s and Master’s theses, participated in the board of three PhD theses, and supervised one post-Doc.
